Selective Laser Sintering
pa12 -White/yellow colorStacking possibleSelective Laser Sintering or SLS is a process in which a laser beam melts a polymer powder to a solid. After a layer is solified/melted the build platform lowers down to the layer thickness ( mostly 0.1mm) prepared for the build. Since parts are build in a powder bed no supports are used in this process.
The build chamber is heated and filled with N2 which means heating time and cooling down time is needed in this process. After parts are removed from the build they are sandblasted to remove all excessive powder and taken up for further treatment ( when required by client)
Advantages:
Strong nylon parts
Different kind of PA-polymers
No supports
Stacking possible
Living hinges possible
Assembled parts possible
FDA approved
FR-material
Used for Rapid Manufacturing
Disadvantages:
Difficult to finish
Warping occurs for big parts
The surface is porous
Parts has to be impregnated for painting
Colors of powders limited
