FUSED DEPOSITION MODELING FDM
FDM and FFF 3D-printing
Fused Deposition Modeling
Fused Deposition Manufacturing also FFF or FDM is a process where a polymer filament is melted in the printing nozzle and deposited on the build platform layer by layer. This process is widely used because it the machines are relatively cheap and simple. In this process stacking is not possible.
Advantages:
Wide range of plastic materials available
Cost effective
Technical polymers as PEEK
Very detailed parts & features
Materials in different colors
Printing of very large parts is possible
Disadvantages:
Surface quality
Difficult to finish/paint
Building time is longer
