Is my idea safe? Every project is executed discreetly from the application stage. This has led to us still working with clients who have been with us since the beginning of our existence. If desired, we can sign a non-disclosure agreement or draft one ourselves so that you, as a client, can proceed with us without worries.
Can my idea/design be printed? With our experience, we can print almost anything. We inform, advise, and print/produce after your approval.
What format do I need to provide for 3D Printing? A 3D file in STEP/PARASOLID/STL format is sufficient for us to be able to 3D print. The only note is that the file must be a closed solid and not a composition of different parts that also need to be printed. We need a separate 3D file for each part that needs to be printed.
Which 3D Printing Technique is suitable for my project? We determine together with you which technique is most suitable for your project. It is therefore important that you determine in advance what your model or 3D print must meet. Consider aspects like dimensional accuracy, indoor or outdoor application, mechanical load, operating temperatures, and color or colors. If you have other requirements, we would like to discuss with you what other possibilities are.
What is the minimum size that can be printed? SLA or DLP are generally the most suitable techniques to be able to print details or wall thicknesses of at least 0.25mm. However, we recommend a minimum wall thickness of 0.4mm because then you have a solid model that can be printed with our 3D printers in SLA, DLP, or SLS. For FDM, we recommend a wall thickness of at least 1mm.
What is the maximum wall thickness that can be printed? For 3D Printing in SLA and SLS, we recommend a maximum wall thickness of 8mm due to the costs of the model to be printed. With SLS there is a risk of warping and greater shrinkage resulting in dimensional deviations. With SLA, there is no risk of deformation, but the build time will increase. Hollowing is usually a solution for thick parts but we always discuss this in advance with you.
What are the minimum dimensions for a 3D print? This depends on the chosen technique. SLA generally has the highest resolution for 3D printing and also the smallest dimensions that can be printed. The minimum wall thickness detail with SLA is 0.4mm. SLS can print a minimum wall thickness/detail of 0.5mm. For all other 3D printing techniques, these wall thicknesses/details are at least 0.8mm.
What is the maximum size for 3D printing? This also depends on the chosen technique. With FDM you can make very large 3D prints but with greater tolerance and layer thickness. With SLA, we can print parts from one piece up to a maximum of 1000 x 1000 x 600 mm. Larger dimensions are possible by splitting parts and gluing them. With SLS, models from one piece can be printed with a maximum dimension of 450x400x600 mm. For larger models, we have several alternatives that we would like to discuss with you.
What colors can be printed? For FDM, depending on the chosen material, numerous colors are available. The choice is greater for common plastics than for technical plastics like Nylon or PEEK. For SLS, we use white powder and gray for glass-filled nylon or Nylon V-0. For SLA, there are not many colors available. Black, white/cream, brown, and yellow/cream are the only colors. VRT has cream-white, cream, off-white, and transparent resins. If you want a specific color, we can also paint the model. For painting, we need a RAL color.
What kind of finishes are possible at VRT? Standard finish per Technique within VRT: FDM—supports removed SLS—excess powder removed and completely blasted. SLA—supports removed, outer sides smoothed and completely blasted. Special finish on request: High-gloss painting in specified color or colors Polishing Matte painting in specified color or colors
What are the delivery times of VRT? This depends on various factors: Which 3D printing technique Dimensions and volume Number of parts Desired finish
